Costa Rica

I am now in Costa Rica in Tamarindo. Costa Rica is a country in Central America. The capitol is San Jose and the people are called Ticos. One of the principal exports is coffee as well as bananas and pineapple. Costa Rica is bordered by Nicaragua to the North, the Carribean Sea to the northeast, by Panama to the southeast and the Pacific Ocean along the 630 long coastline.

There is a small Chinese population in Costa Rica and in fact, some Chinese restaurants. Less than one percent of the population is indigenous. Four fifths of the population is of Eurpean descent and many are of Spanish descent. And few are of African descent.

Spanish is spoken but with a Costa Rican accent, the end words with tito with tico, thus they are known as Ticos. Descendants of Africans in Costa Rica speak Spanish and Limonese Creole which resembels Jamaican English. In fact the peas and rice side dish of Jamaica, is a main side in Costa Rica as well.

The Costa Rican dollar is the colon.
