Ode to Sandwiches

While on my double decker bus tour of San Francisco, I noticed a sandwich place, and recalled my love of sandwiches. Some of the most memorable meals of my life have been — sandwiches. When I gave birth to my son, after 26 hours of labor, at 10:36 p.m. the cafeteria was closed so the nurses gave me tuna sandwiches from their nurse fridge. They were so delicious! I ate 4. Then, when I was visiting my auntie in Philadelphia, she made me a tuna sandwich with some fancy tuna. I recall, it was simply amazing. In Santiago, for breakfast, the ladies made what appeared to be a ham sandwich with tomato and mayo mixed with ketchup — it was so good. When I went to Florence, Italy, I had a sandwich on very flat focaccia, with a spread of mushroom mix, and fancy meats and cheeses, it was so amazing. I still think of it, and have tried to make it. My favorite Assyrian food truck in Olympia makes a sandwich called Sabich, which is so absolutely delicious on a pita. So, don’t knock the sandwiches.
