Jamaican Lodgings
In Montego Bay, I stayed at Castlevue B&B which was wonderful. It was more of a casual B&B and Jamaican style. This was in Mango Walk (pronounced man-go) by the locals and was up on the hill. Montego Bay is down the hill. There was AC and wifi and Lawrence the owner was regularly around. Lawrence picked me up from the airport, made sure I had something to eat for dinner and took me to the grocery store. He also gave me some local dollars to get to downtown in the taxi. Paulette was the house woman and she cleaned and made breakfast every morning. Her breakfasts were amazing. I miss her spirit and being since I’ve been away (in Negril). She made saltfish and ackee, saltfish and butter beans, saltfish fritters, porridge, then with breadfruit and fresh fruit. It was wonderful. Always with fresh fruit. I reccommend it. It’s not your typical lodging. But I liked it. Then Lawrence had to go to Negri, so I asked if I could come and stay over here. I’m so glad I did! I have made so many friends in Negril. The stay is at Stonygate Cottages which are quite wonderful. Both locations are where the locals live, which is nice to mingle with the local residents as well.
