Platanos

Platanos are plantains. They look like bananas but are not good straight up. Then can be shredded and fried. These are sliced and sauteed in oil or butter and so amazing. The best plantain for this use is very black almost looking like it’s going bad. My Puerto Rican mentor says you can use just the tip of the knife in your fingers to open up the plantain. Try it out. It’s delicious.
