Jamaican Food

So far Jamaican food has been boiled green bananas (not my favorite), boiled plantain and some kind of baked pumpkin with light spice, fruit, and a salt fish and white bean mix, fresh fruit juice and coffee. This was my first breakfast.

One day I went to Prapa Spice for some vegetarian dishes on bulgur. So good.

Today I had local breakfast, above, then while in downtown Montego Bay, I was looking all over, I actually wanted to get an alcoholic drink, but none of the restaurants had anything. So one guy on the street had food, so I asked where he went. This guy, who was a cell phone vendor on the side of the road, Ricky, told me you had to call the guy and he would bring it to you. So he asked if he wanted me to call, and he put in the order for the “white lady.” Finally the guy brought the lunch and it was delicious. Fish, some cooked veggies like pumpkin and squash, some dumplings and cabbage, tomato and cucumber. It was so good. It cost $1000 Jamaican, which is like $6.49.

Then for dinner I went to a restaurant with great music, downtown. I had jerk chicken in a barbecue sauce, which was amazing. Pasta which I do not even know what was in it. And the Jamaican side dish of rice and brown peas with a little spice. I had a pina colada and a mango margarita. I think the woman wanted me to pay in US dollars, but I paid in Jamaican and she was a little peeved. Although I have made friends everywhere i have gone, so the lady in the restaurant advocating for me, told me it was ok.
